Corporate Events in Underground Rome

A Technology Company, a Roman Stadium and a Corporate Event Beneath Piazza Navona
Discuss Your Project

When a technology company wanted innovation and history to share the same room, a conventional venue was never going to be enough.

For Cynet, a cybersecurity technology company, we designed a corporate presentation and networking programme inside the archaeological remains of the Stadium of Domitian.

Hidden beneath Piazza Navona, the ancient stadium offered something a hotel ballroom could not: a place with its own story, architecture and sense of discovery.

01 The Challenge

A Venue That Reflected the Brand

Cynet needed a setting for a corporate presentation and networking event in Rome.

The brief was not simply to find an attractive space.

The venue needed to feel distinctive, intelligent and memorable — qualities aligned with a technology brand operating in cybersecurity.

A conventional conference room would have delivered the functional requirements, but not the experience.

02 The Solution

Beneath Piazza Navona

We identified the underground remains of the Stadium of Domitian as the setting for the event.

The archaeological site preserves part of the monumental stadium constructed in Imperial Rome beneath the modern streets surrounding Piazza Navona.

Instead of separating the presentation from the destination, the venue allowed Rome itself to become part of the event.

Guests entered below street level and found themselves surrounded by ancient masonry and archaeological remains before the corporate programme even began.

The Venue

A Roman Stadium Hidden Beneath the Modern City

Piazza Navona preserves the shape of the ancient Stadium of Domitian even though most of the Roman structure now lies below the modern city.

Inside the archaeological area, surviving walls, columns and structural remains create an environment very different from a conventional event venue.

The setting adds cultural depth without preventing the space from supporting a contemporary corporate programme.

03 Event Execution

From Archaeological Site to Corporate Experience

The venue was only one part of the project.

The programme required the archaeological space to function smoothly as a contemporary corporate environment.

Our coordination included:

  • Venue scouting and selection
  • Private access arrangements
  • Guest reception and welcome coordination
  • Coffee station setup
  • Light lunch within the archaeological venue
  • Presentation support
  • Technical coordination
  • Guided cultural visits
  • On-site operational support
04 Experience Design

Presentation, Networking and Archaeology in One Programme

The event was not designed as a corporate presentation followed by an unrelated sightseeing activity.

The venue and cultural programme were integrated from the beginning.

Guests could attend the business presentation, network over refreshments and then understand the archaeological environment through guided interpretation.

This created continuity between the professional purpose of the event and the experience of being in Rome.

The Result

A Corporate Presentation Became a Story Guests Could Take Home

The business objectives of the event remained intact: presentation, networking and hospitality.

What changed was the context.

Instead of experiencing another meeting room, guests spent the programme inside a Roman archaeological site hidden beneath one of the most famous squares in the world.

Innovation and two thousand years of history sharing the same room.
Why It Worked

A venue chosen for the objective, not simply for appearance.

01 · Identity

Distinctive

The archaeological venue immediately separated the event from a conventional hotel or conference programme.

02 · Context

Meaningful

Rome was not merely the destination. Its history became part of the guest experience.

03 · Operations

Functional

Presentation, technical support, hospitality and guided content were integrated into the same environment.

05 Underground Rome

Rome Beneath the Surface

The Stadium of Domitian is part of a much broader archaeological landscape hidden beneath modern Rome.

Ancient houses, temples, religious sanctuaries, stadiums and streets survive below churches, palaces and modern neighbourhoods.

These locations can be especially effective for executive programmes because they combine genuine historical significance with a strong sense of discovery.
